Lighthouse Infrastructure Management (Lighthouse) has appointed Russell Mourney as Chief Operating Officer of its $100 million Lighthouse Solar Fund.
The Lighthouse Solar Fund will invest in a diversified portfolio of solar photovoltaic systems and contracts with utility, government, commercial & industrial and residential customers.
Mr Mourney will be responsible for the origination of solar investments and securing partners onto the Fund’s platform.
Lighthouse founder and Managing Director, Mitch King, said that Mr Mourney has been at the forefront of the development of the solar industry in Australia over the last decade and has been involved in completing some of the nation’s largest commercial solar facilities.
Prior to joining Lighthouse Solar, he held senior roles in the solar and banking industries. Since entering the solar market in 2006 he has worked in and built solar businesses in residential and commercial solar markets, and in solar manufacturing. In the past three years he has headed Corporate Development at Todae Solar, one of Australia’s largest commercial and industrial solar companies. He was also was a founding director of Realestate.com.au Limited (now REA Group) and held senior roles with Macquarie Bank in Business Banking and IT.
In other recent developments, Lighthouse Solar Fund has purchased its second solar farm in Queensland, a 20MW project currently under construction in Hughenden by renewable energy developer, BayWa r.e. The plant is expected to be fully operational by the end of October 2017.
Baywa r.e. is also investing in another three large-scale projects with a combined capacity of 280MW in Northern Victoria and Queensland, which will start producing electricity by the end of next year.
