WA to establish hydrogen council
The Western Australian government has announced plans to establish a council to examine and drive opportunities for the development of the state’s hydrogen industry.
The announcement comes after 300 national and international delegates attended the state’s Renewable Hydrogen Conference in Perth last week.
The state has identified Korea and Japan as key export markets for Western Australia’s burgeoning hydrogen industry.
Exploration of the opportunities for hydrogen will be driven by the Renewable Hydrogen Council, which will comprise of experts from the private and public sectors to provide guidance on ways to progress the industry.
"As the world continues to transition to a low-emissions future, it is increasingly apparent that hydrogen can play an important role - and WA can be central to that future,” Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan said.
