Victoria to go 50% renewable by 2030

The Victorian Government has announced its new renewable energy plan that will see the state move to 50% renewable energy production by 2030, provided the current government is returned to power in the forthcoming state election.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced the move that will shift the existing target from 40% to 50%, with the government announcing an ongoing shift to solar, wind, hydro and the development of new technologies.

The announcement comes after government estimates that the new target will deliver up to 5400 megawatts of new, large scale renewable energy capacity over the next seven years.
